Locals continue to meet every Sunday at 2 pm at the garden. The land is now pretty much cleared, ready for you to establish a family plot or  help plant out the communal area. Donations of vegetable and fruit seedlings, seeds and plants  gratefully received if you have any to spare. See you Sunday.

Cheers, Grant

Last Sunday we developed a plan for the whole garden and yesterday Lem (WCC park ranger) very kindly mulched all the weeds for us. So this Sunday the focus is to:

  • Start the first plots;
  • Create a compost;
  • Construct a path through the middle of the garden;
  • Create a picnic area (bring drinks and nibbles for a shared afternoon tea);
  • Remove rubbish (WCC will pick this up next week

Bring spades, gloves, forks, hammers and other building tools. See you at 2 pm.

Cheers, Grant

Message from Sandy: The link below may perhaps be of interest if we decide we need some natives on the outside of garden etc etc.

“Here is the updated page  that you will need to use to access Free Plants for your group. Wellington City Council’s web site under Free Plants for Community Groups. (Link not current.)

All groups have from now until November 30 to place their plant orders. Please be aware this is the  new  method to order plants. Please contact me if you have any concerns or issues with the link.” Regards, Joby

It was much warmer last Sunday and so we got more work done. Tomorrow Lem (park ranger) is coming to mulch all the weeds and take away the rubbish so this Sunday we will start preparing the ground. The dirt doctor workshop will be happening at the school so they will probably give us some good advice.
See everyone at 2pm.

Cheers, Grant

Lots of work was achieved on Sunday. Lemuel (WCC park ranger) has offered to come  to mulch all the weeds and take rubbish away, so this Sunday we want to put all the weeds and rubbish in piles (bring gloves). We have marked out two paths and an area for the community garden. There is plenty of space for locals who want their own plot as well, if you want to come and claim some.

Cheers, Grant

Today we had 3 people with lots of gardening experience (Brenda from View Road and Jacob and Hannah from Dirt Doctors) so we made some plans for the community garden. We are going to have a working bee next Sunday at 2 pm to create a compost and a pathway. We also had discussion about allotments and how to mange the garden so will continue that next Sunday. Bring a spade, slasher or mulching tools if you have them.

See you there, Grant

A meeting is happening tomorrow at 2 pm to plan the community garden. The site is just north of the school. Best way to get there is to go through the school, past the lower playground. Bring a coat. If it is raining we will be in the school.

See you there, Grant
